Shout Out…
The Honey Claws “Shout Out” video was a fun one (to say the least). Two days in a 100+ degree heat was hard enough for us shooting the video, but even harder for the Honey Claws guys who were running around in Mascot outfits the whole time! We have, for some time now, wanted a music video that would test our concept and shooting style...this was the one!
When you put on the Honey Claws record it is one hell of an experience. The best way I can describe it is Beck on more drugs mixed in with classic hip hop feel to the likes of the Beastie Boys. In order to get the concept and visual style to match their sound, we decided that we would need costumes, animation and a blown out color palette. Also, we wanted to take a viral/youtube like approach to the visual style of the video, so we chose to shoot it without the use of 35mm lenses. We are pleased with what we got out of the video and feel like it was worth sweating for two days straight. Overall, we got what we wanted and probably shaved off a few pounds in the process.
